A View Through Quartz

This necklace centers on a quartz cut into a softly rounded rectangular shape, with broad facets, clear areas, golden rutile, and dark hematite inclusions. Three stars sit above its 18k gold frame, while the double silver chain is oxidized to echo the hematite within the stone.

The clarity of the quartz lets the inclusions appear at different depths. Golden lines cross darker forms, while open areas allow the eye to travel farther into the stone. The effect is a little like looking through an aquarium: everything occupies the same small space, yet some details seem close and others appear suspended beyond them.

It is the kind of combination that makes you wonder how nature placed such different elements together. The three gold stars add Maya’s own mark above that natural composition. Following the dark hematite outward, the oxidized double chain extends its color beyond the quartz and completes the necklace without competing with what can be seen inside.
