Translucent Jade Beneath a Point of Light

A softly translucent green jadeite from Myanmar hangs beneath a diamond-set stardust accent in this necklace made in 18k gold. Cut in Japan, the jade has facets across the front and a softly rounded, cabochon-like back rather than a flat base.

The facets give the jade a geometric character when seen from the front, while its rounded back introduces an unexpected sense of volume. That contrast makes the stone especially tactile and gives its shape more to reveal as the necklace moves.

Above it, the tiny diamond in the stardust catches the light in a quick flash. The jade responds more softly, allowing its pale, translucent green to come forward with each small movement. Together, the two kinds of light make the necklace rewarding to notice again throughout the day.
